Cornelis Maarten Corbijn van Willenswaard (Strijen, 1959), known professionally as Corbino, began his career as a freelance portrait photographer and developed as an autodidact over the years into a multidisciplinary artist. Besides moving images and text, photography is still the centerpiece of his now extensive oeuvre. Corbino became known primarily for his striking, often black-and-white portrait photography of Dutch and international celebrities, from musicians to politicians. He is also a writer and filmmaker; he has made various music films for Krezip, Roel van Velzen, Lavinia Meijer and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, among others.
He published a long-running photographic column in the opinion magazine HP/de Tijd. Pesonalities like Erwin Olaf, Gijs Scholten van Aschat and Francine Houben were featured in this weekly magazine section. Corbino published several books; his most recent book, Corbino's BIBLE, describes his encounters with extraordinary people such as Dolly Parton and Lou Reed, but also his friendship with renowned Dutch writer Martin Bril.
